Buying a guest bed, spare bed, divan bed: what's the difference?

Knowing the correct bed terminology is a bit of a minefield. For instance, a guest bed which has a mattress underneath to turn a single into a superking guest bed, can also be called a truckle or trundle bed. Or even a “folding guest bed". It can also be referred to as a divan bed. Not exactly obvious, is it?!

And then there's the issue of pronunciation. For most people "divan" rhymes with "caravan". But we've noticed quite a few customers referring to their divan bed as if it rhymes with "Steven". "Deevan" bed, anyone?

We don't think there's a right or wrong way for these things (thing-y-me-bob usually does the trick). Sometimes it's easier just to point at a nice photo of what you're after. That's why we've got a few nice ones to look at right here.
